Another factor is that the initial offerings of V90 Modems are usually
backward compatible to *one* and only one older "standard" (X2 or Kflex).
My ISP had Kflex and now has upgraded to V90 with backward compatability
with Kflex only (in the same modem).

One more thing to consider.
