Hi.
Don't parallel them. Unsolder the old one, or cut a pin.
You won't make a mistake if you provide the same number of cells,
which you should be able to count easily in the old battery. Two cells
should be enough (for 2V retaining voltage components).
Supposedly, old one was rechargeable, as new ones.

Starting point: (-1)^(-1) = -1
Applying logarithms: (-1)*ln(-1) = ln(-1)
Since ln(-1) <> 0, dividing: -1 = 1 (ln(-1) is complex, but exists)
