>Will the Pentium 266 MMX be okay as far as speed goes? Will it last me a
>couple of years?
It's slooow compared to the Pentium II 266.
Toshibas last years (i'm still using the original one i bought for some tasks)
But it will run the newer software really sloooowwww. Office 97 will be
really slow on it.
>Will it be okay to use to access the internet?
Since internet access is more a function of the speed of your connection
and the 56K modem is the fastest modem one can get nowadays -- that's ok
>Is the 20X CDrom okay also?
20x is fine for everything
>And the price sounds fairly decent too, I gather.
Well I still lean to the 4005CDS at Egghead for $1100. For the same price
you get the faster Pentium 2 and would not have to think about upgrading
for a number of years. Current software runs at an accepatable speed (when
you press control-end to move to the bottom of the 20 page paper you wrote
there is no waiting....)
I still think you should consider the 4005CDS or 4010CDS.
