Folks:
Our library is using JAWS and Netscape to provide Internet access for our
blind patrons.
Unfortunately, this system is not performing as well as we had hoped. Most
notably, the screen reader interprets columns incorrectly (reading all text
on the screen left to right, as opposed to reading the text in the columns
as a unit) and controls on forms do not seems to be recognized.
I am trying to determine if these are configuration problems, limitations of
the software, are we using the best combination of browser/reader, or am I
completely missing something?
Can anyone offer suggestions or point me to reference sources? Does anyone
know of other institutions in my area (Saint Louis) that are successfully
providing Internet access to blind users that I might be able to contact and
hopefully visit to see their systems at work?
Any input is gratefully appreciated!
