Biodynamics..as a science..often called soil dynamics here in
Germany..is of course known in Europe. It is not only known but
is practised widespread..and the number of farmers and private persons
practising it are growing fast. Organic gardening is known as
biological gardening in Germany and is based entirely on the use
of compost and mulch, as well as not turning over the soil. Another
well known pioneer besides Steiner is Alwin Seifert (1890-1972).
Marie-Luise Kreuter is perhaps the most popular German author
on the subject today. Many local authorities (including my own)
now in fact require that households separate their waste/garbage
for a separate collection of biological waste, paper, plastics
and the rest. The biological waste is composted at local composting
plants and used in parks etc. (I personally wouldn't use it as
it is contaminated with fruit peels etc.).

Regards,

Alan
