You failed to mention if Win 95 still sees the CDROM despite the error
message. Is it still there?
IF YES, then there's nothing to worry about... Win95 is already loading the
proper drivers. Just remove the MSCDEX line in your autoexec.bat if you
won't be using it in MSDOS only mode.
If NO, you mentioned that you just added a hard drive. It's possible that
your hard drive is already partitioned to at least Drive E, and you have not
LASTDRIVE line in config.sys, thus no more drive letters for your hard
drive.
Try adding "LASTDRIVE=Z" in your config.sys for this problem.
Hmm, come to think of it, I might've misunderstood your problem. In any
case, keep the above tips and see if it helps.
