OK, here goes, for the record, as far as I know:

baking SODA is sodium bicarbonate.  It should not contain aluminum. this
is used primarily in cooking to aid in baking to keep items light; and,
in spas to keep the water from becoming excessively acidic.

baking POWDER may/usually contain aluminum. Its primary use in cooking
is to act as a non-yeast leavening.  There is a brand which does not
include aluminum, normally offered in health food stores.  Conventional
baking POWDER always includes aluminum.
