well, in the case of warsaw, perhaps there was no 'restoration' -- as
witold said, there was nothing left to restore.  given what they started
with, it makes the act of 'recontstruction' all the more amazing.  i'm sure
they got some things wrong along the way, on the other hand, the whole
reconstruction of warsaw was certainly one of the most elaborate and
inspiring *political* acts in the annals of preservation.  bravo!
