I have run three hardware modems in the same machine. Two were jumpered
(locked) to the "normal" IRQs and memory addresses, and one was a
software selectable HARDWARE modem on an extended IRQ
and com port. (Seems like it was com5/irq9?, and did not work in DOS)
I had a PS/2 port mouse, on IRQ 12.
Hayes used to give pretty good instructions on setting this up...
If you keep your resources straight, stranger things have happened.
This is going back a few years, so lets hope things have "only" gotten
better... PS: It was a little tricky, but very stable once set up.
