This is for all the adults out there with a milk allergy. Do you experience
ear infections or fluid build up?

The reason I ask is because I had to go to an ear, nose, and throat
specialist the other day because taking dairy out of my diet, combined with
antibiotics, did not fully clear up my chronic ear infections. The doctor
said I have a chronic case of swimmer's ear. Basically, my ear doesn't
produce enough wax to protect water from getting in my ear because of a skin
condition in my ear. The chronic water causes infection.

When I mentioned my problem with milk, he said usually only children have
ear problems from an allergy, not adults. He said he could tell my
infection wasn't from an allergy because my ear drum was not affected. Then
he told me to take lactaid for my dairy problem and an antihistamine during
pollen season.

After that statement and after a 30 sec. diagnosis, I'm reluctant to trust
him. So I wanted to know if anyone has noticed that ear fluid related to
food allergies mostly occurs only in children.

Thanks for any insight anyone can offer. I tend to trust the experience of
you who have lived with this than the opinion of a doctor who won't stay in
the room long enough to hear my questions.
