This sounds like a pretty good idea. I'm in the process of weaning my 11
month old to soy milk. She hated the formula. Spit it across the
kitchen the first time. Tried several other times by mixing it with
brest milk. I got to where she would drink an ounce or so, but that's
it. Of course she'll suck down an entire cup of Vanilla Vitasoy and
hardly come up for air!
I've looked at the nutritional values of a lot of different soy milks and
we're trying a bunch to see which ones she'll drink. The doctor is not
being much help since she insists that the child should have soy formula
until 12 months. Since I'm still partially nursing and don't plan to
have her completely weaned until about 13 months, I've gotten reluctant
by-in on going with the soy milks but no real good recommendations.
My question is which are the most important numbers? Is it the fat and
protein I should be going for? She gets multi-vitamin drops and I've
started giving her juice with calcium, so I'm not so worried about all
those numbers. She does eat a pretty good diet (better than mine I'm
afraid :-)
