John,

I'm with Mary, thanks for the info.  I'm currently trying the SW suggested
acetic acid treatment on joint compound on a c 20-30 year old ceiling
application.  I applied with a spray bottle.  If you just mist it the effect
is minimal.  However, last night we got it wet to the point of rehydration
(ie: it got "muddy" again).  I'm anxious to see if it is firm and solid when
dry.  That would constitute a real miracle for us.
