     Dear all--

I hope this works--I'm still in the quill pen era myself, so this
high-tech stuff is kind of scary.

As a new member of this illustrious fellowship, I am informed that I
     need to introduce myself.

     What can I say?

I am a historian type working for the National Register of Historic
Places, which is, however, in no way responsible for my peculiar
     musings.

Assets: A mind filled with an almost inexhaustible (spelling??)
supply of trivia (very little room for anything else). A rather
warped sense of humor. A real curiosity about what life is like in
the trenches of preservation (we here in Washington are kind of
isolated from that particular level of conflict--we have our own, but
     it is different).

Liabilities: A tendency to pontificate (I assume that will be
punctured right away with this bunch) and generally to talk too much.

The only person on the listserve that I know now is Lara Kozak--Hi,
Lara. I assume that will change pretty quickly.

As an introductory offering. I know the discussion of bumper stickers
has faded into the mists of history at this point, but nevertheless
     will share my all-time favorite.

CAUTION--DRIVER HAS LITTLE OR NOTHING TO LOSE

     Marilyn Harper

P.S. How do you guys get that little disclaimer line to show up at the
     bottom of all your messages?
