I have a Tanita scale and it works fine.

However, you must program it with your gender and height.

If I use it setup correctly, it shows 18%, but if I use it with my wife's
settings, it show 43% (since I am a foot taller than she is) !

It's well under $100, and shows weight to half pound gradations as well.
