PLEASE - don't lump Dr. Sears' diet with Dr. Ornish!!!!!!!
I follow a mixture of diets here - having tailored for myself the best of all
the diet world has to offer taking my physiology into consideration. I use
the 30-40-30 balance because it best fits my nutritional needs, I follow
Paleo/Evolutionary diet in that I eat no foods that I could not digest eating
raw and I consume no dairy of any kind (alas, I had to give up all goat milk
too :-() AND I follow the CRAN diet by eating few total calories/day. I
make the few calories I do consume count by picking out the most nutritious
foods to be part of my diet.
Getting back to red meat deprivation. I don't believe Sears means you should
never eat red meat. Maybe Ornish does tho since he advocates really low fat.
As Dean says over and over (not exactly his words) you must listen to your
body (with the volume turned up LOUD) and work out the best solution to it
all that works the very best for you. He's hungry on the Zone and I'm happy
and satisfied all the time for a year and a half now.
