I have a six station, (1 server, 5 client) 10Base-T Ethernet , Win95 peer to
peer network in my home.
The server, (right now), is an AMD K6 300mhz CPU, (overclocked to 100mhz
bus, aka 350mhz), a 5.7 Maxtor and a 9.1 Seagate SCSI. I have recently
purchased a handful of SCSI drives and am going to revamp the server to all
SCSI for speed.
My question is... once I switch to an all SCSI system how important is the
speed of the CPU? Since the SCSI interface perfoms most of the "recall"
function do I really need a fast CPU for this size system, or can I relegate
the job to an old 166mhz Pentium?
