The FAN school allergy program is very comprehensive. Essentially, it is a
training manual for school nurses as well as school staff. It gives
information on food allergies, symptoms of an allergic reaction, types of
forms that would be helpful that the parents/doctor could complete,
applicable federal laws, etc. It also includes Epi pen trainers, I believe
as well as a video. It is well worth the $75. My son went into anaphylaxis
on the school yard the second week of school in first grade. The info in that
book was dog-earred from the nurses using it to teach themselves about the
signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis. The nurse who assessed him and injected
him with Epinephrine told me that the book gave her the training and
information she needed to make the proper assessment and need to inject him
with epinephrine. So, I believe that manual helped save my son's life.
