It tends to have that effect.  Years ago I was doing construction supervision
during the rehabilitation/restoration of the entrance level lobby.  We worked at
night to allow the monument to remain open during the day.  It was not uncommon
for Park Police officers to show up late at night, bringing their girlfriends
for induction into the 500 Foot Club.
