Hi Fellow List mates,
It just hit me that I read here awhile ago that celiacs were taken off
the blood donor list. Now why is this? It's not like we have anything
contagious or anything. I am an emergency donor at our local hospital.
They go to allot of expense to test and retest for hepatitis/aids, etc.
each year, all their emergency donors. So I guess I should find this
out. I have phoned the local blood donor clinic and they haven't heard
of this new restriction. I can imagine there are newly diagnosed celiacs
with low hemoglobin's that would be better off not donating for a few
years ......but that is on an individual basis. If any one knows
anything about this could they email me directly and I will summarize to
the list. Thanks. And think snow!! Skiing starts this week :) Dianne
