  Lots of questions...

1.  Describe the physical network.  (10-Base2 (BNC co-ax), 10-Base-T
(UTP or STP), or something else?  Hub?  Crossover?  T connectors and
terminators?)

2.  What protocols are you using?  (Ping implies TCP/IP, but you may
have others installed as well.)

3.  What addresses and subnet masks are you using?

4.  What gateway settings?

5.  Contents of HOSTS and LMHOSTS files.
