I agree with Mark.  I have never had a problem with alternative cpus
that wasn't intentionally written into the code, ala Creative Labs.  The
solution to your problem is most likely at the URL below:

The PC Chips M571 (which is sold under what seems like dozens of names)
needs a driver update in order for the built-in sound to work correctly.
This exact message came up on three recent units we were assembling WITH
Pentium chips.  Downloaded sndpatch.exe, followed the instuctions, and
all was fine.

If I miss my guess on your hardware configuration, please repost with
more detail.
