it is my understanding from the reading I have done that AIDS is a
label for symptoms and conditions that occur when the immune system
becomes degraded. there is no proof that any one agent is responsible for
these conditions.

I do not know enough about viruses to respond to this. I am sure you can
do some research and find the answer to this question.
