Don,

I have been off of cane sugar and its derivitives for over a year and a
half.  I have found that maple granules (maple sugar) is a fabulous
substitute for brown sugar.  It substitutes in equal amounts for sugar and
tastes great straight or in recipes.  It's quite expensive but worth it to
me.  I think it would be great on your oatmeal!!
