The fifty year rule brings about a lot of interesting issues. Should we
save Graceland or the Gugenheim, because we know it is significant
before the required age (without considering people or even
associations). I often find myself looking at 60's visitor service
buildings and wondering if I shouldn't plan to make an "architectural
statement" of my own, or demolish them sooner, just to put off the
posibility of having to preserve them. I don't think beauty has much to
do with art in general, but particularly with architecture, but
significance I understand. If you've got a significant 7-11, I think
you should raise public awareness and save the little bugger!
