<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>
If you don't see a message that you've sent to the list for posting within
24 hours, then you can fairly well assume it either met with an "accident"
on the information highway OR it did not "appear" to comply with one or more
of the guidelines below i.e. it was not, in my best judgment for the good of
all, approved for posting.
So far today, the four most popular reasons messages were not OK'd:
1) forgetting to change the DIGEST subject line to something appropriate for
the topic of the post
2) email programs that are sending HTML or quoted-printable MIME encoding
which would create "garbage" characters in the DIGEST, ARCHIVES and the
email reader windows of other listmembers
3) Over quoting which includes both quoting entire messages and/or headers
of messages being replied-to or just quoting far more than is necessary to
convey meaning -- folks want to read what you have to say and not be forced
to reread what has already been written
4) messages that should have been sent privately -- a private, "personal"
response for a welcome or to give congratulations is far more "touching" and
meaningful.
Thank you for your cooperation.
