I get the best deals at the supermarket. The two-for-one specials and
such.
Since "fat is good" I can buy the higher fat items that are much less
expensive.
I usualy cook lots of meat and freeze most of it for my
lunches. This makes for lunches that cost maybe $2
or less.
Frozen berries cost about half what fresh costs if off season.
When in season much of the fruits and vegies can be very
inexpensive.
I almost never buy the free-range stuff because it is very expensive.
With 6 children I can't afford it, even on my "computer engineer"
salary.
I also buy the lettuce stuff that is less expensive. Food changes
very
much in price throughout the year. If you allways buy what is cheap,
you will also achieve a good food variety rotation.
You can buy bulk, things like olive oil.
Also, things like cereal, chips and such are very expensive,
and you are not buying those. In fact I don't think eating
paleo should be any more expensive than not if you always
buy the on-sale items.
