When I stop to investigate architecture while walking along the streets, I
have often noticed people looking in the same general direction to see what
I am staring at.  What better way to draw the general public into our
"church of preservation"?

Similarly, my non-architectural/preservationist friends are already
honorary members of our "church" from constantly dealing with me pulling
over alongside the road to investigate abandoned structures.  One was so
excited to have helped me investigate the old Pruitt-Igoe site in St. Louis
(my undergraduate diploma project site), that she still gives me the "heads
up" on new architecture and historic buildings that she comes across in her
daily life!  Another zealot brought into the fold (insert evil laugh here)...
