hi Sheila -

you are referring to a fruit known as "Miracle fruit" (common name in
English). It too is from Africa, but I don't remember the Latin
name off-hand.

Anyway, Miracle fruit makes sour fruits taste sweet. I am fairly certain
it is a different fruit from the one mentioned in the article. Miracle
fruit grows well in South Florida and even does well in a pot in a
greenhouse.
