Doing some rerearch on ascorbate (vitamin C) and anemia, a researcher
found that 1/2gm ascorbate with a strict vegan meal raised the blood
iron level to "normal" levels, eliminating the necessity for iron
supplements.
See http://www.seanet.com/~alexs/ascorbate/199x.htm#Sharma-1995
Now most ascorbate these days is high-tech and officially non-paleo,
so the unnatural vegan diet, tho made better by addition of
ascorbate, is also non-paleo.
