Weston Price has studied many primitive cultures. He has found many
variations in the diet, but many common points as well:
1) Absence of refined foods (white sugar, white flour/bread,
pasteurized/skimmed/homogeneized dairy...)
2) Presence of high-quality animal foods, rich in fat-soluble
vitamins. Where dairy was consumed, it was always raw, and from
pastured, free-range animals. Where large amounts of meat was
consumed, people ate all parts of the animal (including organs,
glands...) and not only muscle meat.
3) Nutritious plant and animal foods, thanks to highly mineralized
soils.
These people enjoyed remarkable good health, probably at least as good
as what most of us can achieve: well-formed bodies and dental arches,
relative immunity to degenerative disease, tuberculosis and dental
caries, despite the absence of toothbrushes.
Interestingly, cooked food, grains and dairy are not considered as
detrimental. This is in sharp contrast with the raw, vegan and
paleodiet dogmas.
