In a message dated 98-04-11 12:05:08 EDT, you write:

<< As to longevity, Scott Nearing did quite as well, choosing to die
at 100, saying that was long enough. >>

My great-grandfather lived to 100, and had water and fresh lemon for
breakfast, slept outside on the porch most of his life until moving to
Brooklyn. He practiced optometry until he was 90+, and wrote his last book, a
self-published essay on socialism, at 98. He died one night of old age, he'd
been walking around Brooklyn the day before.

He was a total raw foodist, except for the meat, potatoes, cooked veggies,
tea, coffee, and sweet desserts. My grandmother says he hardly ate raw food.

<<I doubt he was ever caught, like a breatharian, at a fast-food joint.>>

A friend of a friend went to hear a well-known female breatharian speak in
California, and while waiting for the show, she got up to use the rest room.
Walking down a hall-way, she stumbled upon the breatharian eating a candy bar.
Don't recall the woman's name.
