"I have found a few ways to help folks with no money."

John,

In recent years I have found a new beginning in matching funding to
projects. Not alot but something that I think we as "preservation
consultants" or "Owner's Rep.s" should work on. I find that more and more
the cream of the consulting crowd can be recognized not only for there
experience, practicality and knowledge but also by there contacts with
private, non-profit and government funding opportunities. As Ken wrote he
is enjoying the Foundation Center as a resource. I have found that in
general it is a waste of time and man hours to apply for money without a
strong invitation, especially when we are talking bricks and mortar
(although this is finally changing after ten years of the raging economy).
A topic for future discussion?

By the way it occured to me, maybe we should refer to this process as
"Bricks and Mortar and Boards".

Best,
Leland
