Religions follow crops geographically everwhere in the world. Your
religion is largly determined by which crop species you are dependent
(and who in turn depend on you). In this way all religion is an
expression of symbiosis. As eros is to reproduction so religion is to
symbiosis. One must sacrafice in order to insure that the crops flourish
even if this means ill health for many individuals. Hunter-gatherers
first began practicing totemic religions celebrating a symbiosis with
animals as soon as the dog was domesticated. These were the first
religions in the archelogical record and continued until agriculture
replaced them with plant-based religions.
The low-fat, low-calorie diet was originated by Dr. John H. Kellogg whose
medical education and clinic in Battle Creek, MI were financed by Sister
Mary White (founder of the Church of Seventh Day Adventists) to promote
vegetarianism. This religious agenda is much more dificult to overcome
than any scientific data in promoting a paleodiet book!
