I want to ask about a problem of my friend that when he choses shut down

from start the computer displays the message " please wait while your
computer shuts down". After displaying this message the computer hangs &

does not display the message " its now safe to turn off your computer".
I have checked the file logos.sys this file is present in windows folder

& it is ok.
In the start of this problem the computer used to run scandisk on
windows startup but after somedays it stopped running scandisk & now it
does not display any error message.
What could be the this problem.
