Upon powering up a 486-dx100 Windows 95 reports "windows didn't load
properly, choose safe mode?" and I answer yes then restart windows after
looking around in control panel for problems. Then it restarts in normal
mode and everything is fine. It does not always do this, but when it does
the computer has been just turned on.
This has happened on several occasions recently, only on cold boots.
Previous to this power up sequence the computer was shut down properly.
What could be causing this? No new hardware has been installed nor any new
drivers on this system. Assuming it is a hardware problem, what might I
look for to correct this?
Any ideas?

Ken
