I recently installed a Western Digital hard drive in my Gateway to coexist
with a Quantum Fireball. The BIOS and Windows 95 don't have a problem with
either, but now I have lost the drive letter for the CD-ROM. It is
recognized on start up and in CMOS as being on the secondary IDE controller
(the two hard drives are both on the same primary IDE). It is listed in
Device Manager, but the secondary controller is depicted as having a
problem. I have (twice) deleted both controllers (you can't delete the
secondary without deleting the primary) and rebooted. Everything is
recognized and gets along fine after the reboot. But if I shut down or
restart again, I lose access to the CD again. I have specified the CD drive
letters to start at "E" and end at "Z".

Any help is appreciated; thanks in advance.
