3F8H is the default address for COM1. You most likely have a modem at COM1
and a serial port on the system which is also configured for COM1.

Press F2, enter setup, and find your serial port settings. Change the serial
port that's assigned to COM1 to COM2 or some other setting. If you don't
want to change your serial port, you can change the setting on your modem.
