Hi Steve,

people have had problems with the upgrade. Here is some info and a link from
Cnet: 3Com/U.S. Robotics modems may get fried during upgrade
   http://www.news.com/News/Item/0%2C4%2C20963%2C00.html?dd.ne.tx.ts.
Everyone loves a standard--unless, that is, you try to upgrade your
56-kbps modem to it and end up with a lifeless hunk o' hardware.
It might be a good idea to review all the information before you upgrade.
