I'm trying to format a West. Digital small
 (around 600 mb)drive and when I get up to
 90% or so it stops and says:
"trying to recover allocation unit"
 then counts up from 37,835 or so and them
 aborts format. I've done it about 5 times.

 Is this drive dead?
 TIA;
