I've been thinking of getting a new computer and in order to free up a
slot have been looking at the US Robotics 56K Voice Faxmodem Pro External.
It says it is able to use either a RS232 Serial port, or the USB port.
Most of my communication programs look for the modem on Com port 1 thru 4.

My question is this, is a USB port recognized as a com port. Or will you
have to by new programs to use a modem on a USB port.

Ed
