Tom:
Thanks for the kind words, and for your post. Let me give you a little
background. Prior to the Expo, I had never met Ray Kent, and only read his
book - which I considered average or mediocre. He has been criticized on
this list, for the control issues you raise, while there are people in SF-
LiFE who have a high opinion of him. So, I was fairly neutral on him.

I didn't get to hear his speech, only some of his panel responses, so my
contact with him was limited. I found him to be funny - in an eccentric way,
but also a person with an attitude problem. That he dislikes religion is fine,
but his apparent glorification of Shelton (sarcastic comment: the Great Saint
Herbert Shelton), sets off alarms for me. The Shelton-bots are as bad as
the Fry-bots, in my opinion. Note that I am not criticizing those who respect
Shelton, only those who consider his writings to be "holy scriptures" handed
down from heaven. That attitude is an excuse to stop thinking, something many
NHers have done.

So at this point, I'm not negative on him, but somewhat suspicious. I need
more contact to make a real evaluation.

Thanks for your comments!
