On the hard drive problem..quick capsule: Remember, I couldn't boot
my system, only from a floppy. No drive "C" or "D" appeared (2 drive
system). Suggestions from group: I checked CMOS settings(okay),
checked time & date (okay). Opened the covers(wiring & connections
okay). I swapped the drives (master & slave). I had to put a boot
record on the new master(hadn't done this before, would have saved
some time I'm sure). I copied an autoexec & config to the new master.
System came up fine. Tried to access the new slave(older "c" drive)
got a "hard drive failure".

So I'm back running after re-building my system(no backups, that
won't happen again!!). My last question: "can I assume this drive is
gone, unrecoverable?"
