When I worked on the Staten Island Lighthouse I was able to track down a
copy of the original specification for the lightkeepers house. Extremely
brief document. I'll see if I can find time to scan photos from the
project
and post. The light an octagonal structure, we stripped the outer wythe,
reinforced the inner wythes with a SS frame, and installed new outer
wythe.
Custom brick, particularly for the corners. RSA (Robert Silman
Associates)
was the engineer. I think this was back around 1982. The demo crew was
Irish and they were in a hurry and stripped past a large through-crack
in
the inner wythe before I caught up and stopped them. The re-brick crew
was
Italian and got mad because the project got in the local newspaper and
they
got hit with a few bucket sitters as a result.
