The next question in this thread is:  how does the vehicle affect
permeability?  In other words, does the molecular weight affect
permeability or vapor transmission?  This is of particular concern when
masonry is painted, but must somehow still allow moisture that gets
trapped behind the paint coating to escape, to avoid spalling of the
substrate.
