A couple of weeks ago I asked you all to help my gastroenterolgist (and
other list members) here in Atlanta; she wanted to know what your general
findings are about the safety of maltodextrin in a GF diet. The results
were interesting, and my own conclusion is that the main problem if there
is one is in the use of barley. Here is brief rundown of the answers; many
thanks to those of you who took the time to reply.

Perhaps the most original answer was from someone who wrote, "I do not know
anything about maltodextrin but congratulations on finding a great doc. who
has learned to ask the experts about GF foods!"

One answer was simply "Thanks for asking. I would like to read your summary."

Three said, "I accept maltodextrin without question."

One said, "No, it contains barley."

Two said, "No, it MAY contain barley."

Another said, "Someone found barley in maltodextrin in Holland."

Another said, "It is made from corn in the US."

Another said, "I always react badly to maltodextrin."
