oat straw is used in Western herbalism as a tonic for the nervous and
reproductive systems. The saying that someone is "feeling their wild
oats" is a reference to the use of oats as a sexual tonic.

However, I have not seen oat straw used in bread. On the other hand,
the oat grain can be soaked and used in sprout bread recipes, and the
dry grains can be processed into flour and used in conventional (baked)
breads.
