I *am* a professional philosophy major, but for some reason I
have recently become interested in cholesterol metabolism.
I understand that folic acid absorption can be a problem, and
unfortunately the strongest legally allowed supplement is only
800 mcg in the US. In Canada you can get 10 mg supplements
without a prescription.
Incidentally, from my reading the virtues of turmeric are quite
impressive, including improvement of blood lipids. The stuff
also has powerful anti-inflammatory powers, comparable to NSAIDs,
but without compromising the body's own production of beneficial
series 1 eicosanoids. It apparently has anti-carcinogenic
properties too.
