Axel:
>>>people simply think i have eating disorders, specially whenever i go back
>to raw, even for a day.

Sheila:
It doesn't make any difference what other people think, the important thing
is to get clear on what you need to do for yourself.

Alex:
>one of the worst things
>emotionally for me is the incredible time and energy devoted to "food".

SS:
That is one of the obsessive underpinnings I had with the eating disorders
and can sort of watch my mind now. The constant time and energy devoted to
even thinking about food. Healing my emotional body has helped to undermine
the obsessive-compulsive aspect of my illness.

axel.
what else do you know about this and what has been your approach in
terms of foods and other things once you got over bulimia? right now i am
drinking a lot of vegetable juice, eating some fruit, some avos, sea weed,
just barley. after a couple of weeks the water still remains.

SS
My 'approach' started long before I got over the bulimia. It started 3
years into it in an attempt to overcome continually getting the flu and
hopefully to overcome lifelong constipation. I began in 1974 reading
Ehret's Mucus Free diet Healing System, then in 1975 went to Hippocrates
Health Inst. I felt that was and is the best and favorite diet for me. Not
100% and not fanatically. As I progressed with better diet, the poor food
quality of the binges fell off as well as the number of times I binged and
threw up. A good nutritional program is important in correcting many
imbalances mineral and otherwise and a good foundation for healing.
However, I was also doing good things for myself socially, physically, and
spiritually.
I ate way too much fruit and would get heart pain and didn't even
associate it then with bulimia. I could stop the pain with liquid
chlorophyll, like wheat grass juice and pounded down 4-12 ozs a day for a
few years. Probably spared me worse electrolyte imbalance.
Now I work on varying my diet and not eating the same thing all the time
which is what I used to do. I ate so many oranges and honey that it wore my
teeth enamel off! I follow the blood type diet, specific carbohydrate diet,
raw
diet and have a margarita occasionally. No bibles. I try to eat
instinctively what appeals to me and what is in season. It's developing
right relationship with food.

Alex.
are there any
tests to find out the state of your body in connection to all this? just
basic urine and blood tests? i have been thinking about seeing a doctor but
wanted to find out first what tests to have done (i have medical insurance
but you have to ask the doctor for the tests you want).

SS:
I had hair/urine/saliva testing done occasionally by wholisitic
practitioners however I still had to stop the behaviors. I havn't seen any
doctors for this although an ND commented I had muscle atrophy from the
anorexic side of it.
I take supplementation for my heart and electrolyte balance and it's a slow
recovery.

Alex.
why cucumber juice? what do you eat in terms of protein?

SS:
The cucumber juice is a diurectic while also putting in important minerals.
I eat what protein I feel attracted to such as bee pollen, nuts, raw or
cooked meat, beans (rare). Recently, I have been soaking figs and then
powdering almonds and pouring it over the figs, in their juice and chopped
in smaller pieces. Everyone's chemistry is different so your path will most
likely vary from mine. I wish someone would have picked me up by the scruff
of my neck when I was 26 and put me in a rehab center for at least 3-6
months! Now I'm 55 and picking up the pieces and putting them genuinely
together!

Hope there is something here for you.

Kind Regards,
Sheila Shea
