Just a (perhaps stupid) suggestion: one of the problems with low fat diets
is the deficiency in essential fatty acids, and more particularly the
omega 3s. Good sources of EPAs (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHAs
(docosahexanoic acid) [sp??] are fish oils (mackerel, salmon,
tuna, bluefish...). Vegetable fats usually contain little omega 3s (in
comparison to omega 6s), except flax seed. The problem with flax seed is
that

 -it is laxative
-the omega 3s it contains is in the form of ALAs (Alpha-linolenic acid),
and no EPAs and DHAs. It is true that ALAs can be transformed by the body
into EPAs, which in turn are transformed into DHAs, but it is possible
that some people have a limited ability to make these transformations.

In the book "Omega 3 oils", by Rudin (I think), the author relates some
positive results on skin problems with people taking flax seed oil
supplements.

In fact, the author thinks that the lack of omega 3s is the cause of all
disease, because the regulate the production of eicosanoids; but Barry
Sears thinks otherwise [See "The Zone", there is an interesting chapter
when he talks about how treatment with borage oil didn't work very well].

Best wishes,

Jean-Louis
