According to http://www-seer.ims.nci.nih.gov/Publications/CSR7394/
in the period 1990-1994, the age at diagnosis for colon cancer
(invasive) per 100000 people in the US was:
[...I skipped a few...]
45-49: 16.5
50-54: 32.0
55-59: 59.6
60-64: 96.5
70-74: 204.4
75-79: 277.2
80-84: 358.0
85+: 382.5
that is, a very significant number of people were diagnosed to have
invasive colon cancer at 60.
In hunter-gatherer populations, animal food consumption is on average
65% by calories (33% for the Bushmen, almost 100% for the Eskimos...),
usually in the form of cooked meat (except for the Eskimos). A
significant percentage of the population lives 60 years or more. For
instance, 10% of the Bushmen are 60 years old or more; that has to be
compared to industrialized countries, where the figure is no more than
about 20%.
And hunter-gatherer populations are virtually cancer-free.
